– Roman bath – the village of Banya

Old Roman bath the village of Banya

The healing waters of the Roman bath

The bath was built probably in the XVI – XVII century and has a characteristic cellular structure. It is built in a typical Roman style with alternating stone rows with several rows of flat baked bricks. The building is vaulted and has small openings in the vault, with niches and a chimney at the entrance. There are niches in the walls where the clothes hangers are still preserved. The pool has retained its original flooring, and the troughs have recently been built of marble.

Today, the bathroom impresses visitors with the magical atmosphere of the landscape, harmoniously combining history and legends, past and present. Evidence that the waters of the village of Banya heal, we find in the legends about the life of the Romans, who actively used the magical benefits of the area.
