The village of Eleshnitsa / at 793 m above sea level / is 18 km east of the town of Razlog, in the valley of the river Zlataritsa. On the territory of the village there are four healing mineral springs with different composition and temperature / from 20 ° С to 70 ° С /. Studies show that St. Barbara, a Christian martyr, was born in the village of Eleshnitsa at the end of the 3rd century. Remains of an ancient and medieval settlement have been found. The church “St. Athanasius ”and several old houses are cultural monuments. Some of the icons in the church and the famous “Silver Gospel” are historical values.
